He made his money in oil. He is eccentric and notorious for his collection of stuffed bats. These hideous black winged creatures hang from the walls and ceiling of his house spooking everyone who enters. Some people consider Jerry Oilman quite batty. Others are less polite.

Tonight Jerry has invited a host of rich and famous people. For example, Marilyn Monroe is here looking for the perfect man. And when you get this many big names together you know there’s sure to be conflict. What Jerry hadn’t foreseen, and what you don’t know, is that something sinister and frightening is about to take place. You will all be asked to work out who is the villain behind this dastardly crime – a crime that will take us all the way to the graveside.

Hawaiian Lunacy

Hawaii Island (nicknamed “The Big Island”) – is the island with an active volcano called “Kilauea”. A number of people live there. They claim it is safe because volcano emits lava and ash in the other direction. It is also the home of Pele – the “Goddess of Fire” or “Goddess Of The Volcano” as she is known. The rainfall on the island is extremely high and there are lots of lava tubes, butterflies and rainbows.

Before the Polynesians came to Hawaii, it was inhabited by little people known as Menehune [pronounced meh-neh-HOO-neh]. Some say Molowa had some Menehune blood in him and that was why he was only four foot tall. He originally came from Maui but he had been on the island for a number of years. Recently, however, he had been causing so much mischief that people were starting to complain.

Today it was discovered that he has mysteriously disappeared. Perhaps he has moved to another island or back to Maui. Your task is to work out who rid the island of Molowa.

Block Party Ideas #2 Sell extra wrist bracelets – Block parties are a community event, people who have no kids invite family and friends with children. These children now have to be calculated into the cost of the block party. For these families that normally do not have children, sell them wrist bands. This will help calculate the number of kids at the block party and offset entertainment and prize expenses.

Block Party Ideas #3 Invite local law enforcement or fire department to your block party. Most local government agencies can provide free community education such as, D.A.R.E., Kids finger printing, police dog education, fire safety, home safety, plus they can bring vehicles for children to inspect. Block Party Ideas #4 Frozen T-shirt Game. The idea of the game is to take a folded frozen T-shirt, unfold the T-shirt and put it on. This game requires 5 T-shirts. I suggest that you find a local company that would like to donate some T-shirts (free advertising for the company). Soak the T-shirt in water and fold. Place freezer paper between shirts and freeze rock solid.

The Game – Have five contestants unfold the frozen T-shirt and put it on. They can do anything to defrost the T-shirt, BUT must be done in the street. If a barbecue kettle is available, then roasting a T-shirt is legal. You will be surprised how creative people will become trying to unfold a frozen T-shirt.

Block Party Ideas #5 In planning your block party activities, remember to make provisions to recycle all of the materials that are normally collected by the City. So, when the fun is over and it is time to clean up, recyclables are already bagged.

1. See Horse Riding Contest

   This water game is played like a chicken fight, only it is played in shallow water. One player sits on the shoulders of his teammate. He must try to push/pull his opponent off his teammates shoulders, grab his swim cap, or get the plastic band out his pocket. If the game takes place in a pool (inside or outside), please pay attention to the pool ledges so that no one is hurt.

2. Water Tug-O-War

   Tug-O-War played in the water.

3. Island Contest

   Each player stands on an air mattress. Goal is to knock down your opponent with a lance ( swim noodle or other soft covered stick like object).

4. Piranhas

   2 piranhas fight against each other. Each player has 2-3 strips of material or plastic foil stuck in his pocket, but hanging out at least 30cm. The opponent must try to pull the strips off. The loser is the player who no more strips and thus is “naked to the bone”, a skeleton.

5. Clothing Relay

   Players put on a shirt, pants, hat, and gloves, jump into the water, swim to the other side, take these items off and give them to the next player on his team.

6. Water Ball Relay

   A ball or a balloon must be transported back and forth. Hands may be used or to make it more difficult, players can only use their heads.

7. Air Mattress Relay

   The smallest player on a team must be transported back and forth on an air mattress.

8. Rope Pull Relay

   A rope is strung or held above a stream or across a pool. The first player sits on an air mattress and must pull himself to the other side where the next team mate gets on the mattress and pulls himself back to the other side. This continues until all players on the team have gone. Which team is the fastest?

9. Transport

   A table tennis ball is carried on a spoon held in the players mouth as he goes back and forth.
